This review studies a product called Gas-Eze made by a company with one of the most extensive herbal lines in the USA – Dr Christopher’s. The company prides itself as being around since 1945 and is based on the principle of overcoming disease by cleansing and nourishing and “getting back to the cause of the disorder.” We like that this company uses all-natural ingredients in their supplements and don’t include any preservatives or artificial ingredients.
Gas-Eze provides a 950 mg proprietary blend for every serving of 2 capsules. Usually we prefer to see an exact amount of each ingredient (even if it is part of a blend) to know whether you can reach the daily recommended dose as per clinical research. We were a little bit disappointed to see that no amount was indicated on the label for each item. However, there are definitely ingredients here that stand out, such as Papain, Caraway and Ginger which are clinically researched ingredients at relieving gas, and for that reason we ranked it in our second spot.
Caraway and Ginger are vital ingredients for gas relief as the Ginger helps soothe the stomach and Caraway plays a role in eliminating gas quickly. However, according to our research, ideally the Ginger should be paired with Artichoke as the two are known to complement each other. While the Ginger focuses on the stomach, the Artichoke supports the small bowel. Unfortunately Artichoke was not included in this formula. In addition, there is strong evidence that shows how effective Caraway is when paired together with Peppermint in expelling unwanted gas as well as preventing additional gas build-up, but alas, we’re missing the Peppermint here too. There are some great ingredients in this formula such as Cayenne Pepper and Elm Bark which have been said to help with bloating and pains caused by gas. Gas-Eze also includes Papain, which is a proteolytic enzyme that helps break down proteins for easier digestion. However, we would have liked to see ingredients that have a stronger reputation and have solid clinical research when it comes to relieving gas and bloating, such as: Fennel, Roman Chamomile and Turmeric.
For a company that has such a rich history in formulating herbal remedies for a range of various conditions, we expected to see more research and thought put into their formula. We felt there were some obvious ingredients that are missing from Gas-Eze. One such ingredient is BioPerine®. This simple black pepper extract is renowned for its reputation in facilitating optimal absorption of the other ingredients in the formula, which then bring on results much quicker and more effectively. We were sadly disappointed that this was missed out.
Unfortunately we didn’t find many reviews for this product online. Ideally that would be our biggest indicator whether a supplement is effective or not. However, this brand has been around for a very long time based on formulas with proven success. The ingredients included in the formula, although all part of a blend, are known ingredients that should be effective at helping balance the digestive tract and getting rid of extra gas. It’s hard to judge without knowing the specific amounts of each ingredient, nor having much feedback from actual consumers.
Another indicator that we look for is whether there is a guarantee. If we see that the manufacturer offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee, we feel confident that the product will be effective because if not, the manufacturer is putting his reputation on the line if it doesn’t work. Unfortunately in this case we couldn’t find any mention of a guarantee, which had us questioning how effective this product actually is.
This product is made from pure and natural ingredients with no fillers or artificial ingredients. The ingredients included in the formula have not been known to pose any health risks. Therefore, we feel that there is no reason that this product should not be safe. The company claims that the products they make meet the high standards the company’s principles were founded on. As with all supplements however, we recommend consulting with your health care provider before starting any new regimen.
There were a number of points about this product that stood out to us, such as the rich history of the brand along with some stand-out ingredients like: Caraway, Ginger, Cayenne Pepper and Papain. We like these ingredients and believe they have the beginning of a strong foundation for an effective gas relief supplement. Caraway and Ginger have strong research backing them up as effective gas relievers, however ideally they work best when paired together with Peppermint and Artichoke respectively. The addition of the protein enzyme Papain is a nice touch, as is the Cayenne Pepper. We would have liked a bit more transparency though with regards to the amounts per ingredient.
With regards to the ingredients, there are quite a few ingredients that we would have liked to see in this formula. Ingredients such as Fennel, Roman Chamomile and Turmeric are sorely missed as they are clinically researched ingredients that have been proven at being effective as a gas and bloating reliever. Another clear miss is BioPerine®. This is a huge strike as it seems such an obvious addition.
Another point we like about this product is that there is a generous amount of capsules per bottle. There are 100 pills per bottle and with a 2-capsule serving this gives the consumer 50 servings. We were slightly confused however, at the directions. The directions state to “take two capsules during or after meals or as directed by your health care professional.” There is no mention about how many one should take per day, or whether there is a limit of how many one should take. Does this mean one should take 6 of these capsules a day? That seems quite excessive, and if it is 6 capsules a day, then a 100-count bottle doesn’t seem that generous after all. This could have been more clearly indicated.
The final issue that is important to point out is the lack of a money-back guarantee. A guarantee would instill confidence in the consumer to purchase as they have nothing to lose. With Gas-Eze we’re missing that confidence, and if the manufacturer has no confidence in his product, how can he expect the consumer to? We believe that anyone who truly believes in the efficacy of his product would not hesitate to offer a guarantee.
